Your Lunch with a Local Family in Shimla | Authentic Himachali Food Experience begins with a warm traditional Himachali welcome at your host family’s home. After a brief introduction to the family, you will have the opportunity to explore their home, observe everyday mountain living, and gain insight into how local families in Shimla live, cook, and preserve traditions.
On arrival, you will be served traditional tea with local snacks such as freshly prepared vegetable pakoras (fritters), Siddu, a popular Himachali delicacy. During this time, you will also enjoy an Introduction to the Indian Spice Box, where your hosts will explain the secrets of traditional Indian spices and how they are used in everyday cooking.
Guests are welcome to participate in preparing Masala Chai (Indian spiced tea) and helping the family make pakoras or other seasonal snacks, creating an engaging and hands-on cultural experience. During the experience, guests can enjoy a hands-on introduction to Indian cooking, learn the use of traditional spices and local ingredients, and join the family in preparing selected dishes in a warm home environment. Being a charming hill station, most homes in Shimla are located on hillside slopes, including your host family's home. Reaching the house involves a pleasant 5-minute walk from the nearest car drop-off/parking point, including approximately 60 steps uphill. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes or sandals and kindly request guests to keep this in mind while planning the experience.
This tour is suitable for guests of all age groups; however, those with mobility concerns are advised to consider the short uphill walk and steps before booking.

Guests may choose to book the experience as a private tour or on a "Join-In" basis, where independent travellers may join together in a small shared group (maximum 6–8 guests per experience).
