The tour starts in the beautiful region of Kerala in South India from Fort Cochin, also known as “Queen of Arabian Sea”, which is the vibrant city and considered as the most important city on the west coast, further it continues to Munnar, the breathtakingly beautiful hill station in Kerala with magnificent mountains, lakes, tea plantations, exotic species of flora and fauna, wildlife sanctuaries, etc. We will also visit Thekkady (Periyar) which has the largest national wildlife sanctuary for tigers.
Further we will visit Alleppey, known as the ‘Venice of the East’, famous for its backwaters full of immense natural beauty. The traditional wooden houseboats also enhance the beauty of these backwaters. Overnight experience on these houseboats will fascinate you and will provide you to see the local people from much closer.
Brief Itinerary : Fort Cochin > Munnar > Thekkady > Alleppey > Varkala > Kovalam > Trivandrum > Goa
You will be met from your flight to Cochin international Airport by Summit Safari’s representative/ your tour escort and he will accompany you to your hotel in the colonially influenced Fort Cochin (1hrs), where you will stay for three nights. This afternoon you will be free at leisure , to relax your own. Overnight stay in Fort Cochin also called Cochin.
Please Note:Cochin is an international airport in Kerala in south part of India, there are flights from Dubai (middle east Asia) / Singapore ( South East Asia). If you are coming from U.K / Europe or from Australia you can get your connecting flights at these places. We would like to discuss these things with you at the time of your booking of the holidays with us. You can fly with Emirates / Air India or similar, with a change en route.
Today morning after breakfast we will take you for a half day of walking tour to visit the famous heritage sites of old Cochin (Fort Cochin). Having been under the control of the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British, The Fort cochin has a rich and varied history. Explore the heritage part by foot (2-3 hrs) and visit the Vasco the Gama square, the chinese fishing nets, the church of St Francis, which is India’s oldest, take a jetty ride to Ernakulam ( the mainland) with the local people, take a Auto ride (three wheeler ride also know popularly in India as Tuk – Tuk), have a lunch in a local restaurant and return back to the hotel by 2:30 PM. In the afternoon you will have your free time to relax and rest. In the evening 05:00 P.M we will take you to visit the famous traditional Kathakali dance show 2 hrs. Later on return back to your hotel for dinner, second night in the same hotel In Fort Cochin.
In the morning after breakfast , we will take you to visit the Mantchery area in fort Cochin, where we will visit the oldest Jewish Synagogue in India, with the famous Dutch palace with its murals of India’s mythological epic, the Ramayana. You will also explore the local market by foot where you can still notice the heritage of fort Cochin. Return back to your hotel by afternoon which is free to relax your own; if interested later on you can go to enjoy a sunset cruise on Cochin Harbor. Third night in the same hotel in Cochin.
After breakfast we will drive you to Munnar (4 hrs). Munnar used to be the summer resort of the erstwhile British administration in south India and the hills are covered with tea estates. Arrive Munnar – the magnificent hill-station of Kerala, check into the hotel. Later on after lunch we will proceed to Rajamala national park, also known as Eravikulam National Park, located about 15 km from Munnar, this park is famous for its endangered inhabitant – the Nilgiri Thar. Spread over an area of 97 sq. km., this park is also home to several species of rare butterflies, and birds. The park offers a magnificent view of the Anamudi peak, tea plantations and also the rolling hills caressed by blankets of mists. Anamudi peak around 2,700 metres is the highest peak of south India. The park and many hills around Munnar becomes a hot destination when the hill slopes here get covered in a carpet of blue, resulting from the flowering of Neelakurinji flower plant. It is a plant endemic to this part of the Western Ghats which blooms once in twelve years. The last time it bloomed was in 2006 and the next blooming of these flowers is expected in the year 2018. Return back to the hotel by evening.
After breakfast we will leave for the sightseeing tour of Munnar including Mattupetty Dam, Kundale Lake, Top station. Where you will have a chance to walk in a tea estate owned by Tata Company and might see the women plucking the tea leaves. On the way many times people are lucky to see the group of wild elephants also. Late afternoon after a cup of tea in the local shop in Top station we will return back to Munnar and visit the vegetable market at Munnar. Second night in the same hotel at Munnar.
After breakfast (08:00 AM) we will drive you to Thekkady/ Periyar (4 hrs). Enjoy the natural views, and spice plantations with the beautiful countryside on the way to Thekkady. We will arrive Thekkady by afternoon and will check in at your hotel. You will have your free time for lunch and to relax your own and today evening we will take you to visit the tribal dance show, organized and done by the tribal people of the area of Periyar national reserve. The money of this show goes for the benefit of the education and other progress activities of the tribes of this area.
Today early morning 06:00 AM. we will leave for boating (shared boat ride) at Periyar Lake inside the wildlife sanctuary area, the boat trips are conducted by the forest department, depends on the availability of the tickets, mostly are organized through our associate office in Thekkady. This early morning boat trip offers us a chance to see the wildlife including, elephants, wild bores, Sambhar deers, Bison, etc including various kinds of birds. Return back to the hotel after 3 hrs and after breakfast around 12:00 P.M we will take you to the Elephant camp where one can ride the elephants and even can help with the washing of the elephants. We will also visit the small spice plantation area. Other optional activities includes Jungle walk, nature walk, easy walking (2 hrs) through the Periyar wildlife sanctuary and all area organized by the Forest department of Kerala with proper forest guides, and these activity depends on the availability of the tickets, as tickets are available directly at the forest office counters Around 02:00 PM we will return back to the hotel and rest of the day free to relax your own. Second night in the same hotel in Thekkady.
Today morning after breakfast around 08:00 AM we will leave for Alleppey from where we will board our house boat around 12:00 PM, to experience the back waters of Kerala. The house boat will take you on the back water canals of Vembanad Lake. Here most of the land and paddy fields are below the sea level. Allapey, known as the ‘Venice of the East’, is a district of immense natural beauty, with a vast network of lakes, lagoons, canals and freshwater rivers crisscrossing its terrain. Today, this backwater destination is famous for its boat races, beaches, marine products and coir industry. Enjoy a full day cruise along the scenic backwaters of Vembanad Lake. The boat travels slowly on the backwater canals, where you can enjoy the beautiful views of paddy fields, coconut trees, palm trees, local villages, and local people busy with their daily work routine. The boat halts on the water in the evening and you can enjoy the beautiful sunset from the house boat. All meals will be served on the house boat and overnight in house boat. We will spend entire day on the house boat experiencing the life of the local people and enjoying the nature.
Today around 10:00 AM we will leave the house boat and will drive you to Varkala beach in Kerala famous for its cliff. Reach Varkala by late afternoon and check in to your hotel. Later on have a walk on the famous cliffs of Varkala and enjoy the sunset from the top. Here you have a choice to have your dinner in the local restaurants on the cliffs, with beautiful views of the sunset, the beach and the sea below. In these local restaurants fresh sea food is cooked as per your choice. Overnight in Varkala.
Today after breakfast we will drive you to the scenic beach of Kovalam, enroute we will cross Trivandrum city the capital town of Kerala and will visit the old Palace and museum in the city centre. We will arrive Kovalam by late afternoon. Evening is free to relax your own in Kovalam.
Today we will have a relaxing day at Kovalam and if interested we can go for the ayurveda message therapies, water sports on Kovalam beach including the water scooter and speed boat ride. The nearby beaches to the south and north of Kovalam also provide good places for swimming & relaxing. One can spent entire day relaxing on various beaches. If interested in the evening before sunset you can climb up to the old light house to enjoy the sunset and later you have a choice to have dinner at the local restaurants in Kovalam beach where the local small restaurants cook fresh sea food of your choice. Second night in the same hotel at Kovalam.
Today morning after breakfast you will be transfer to Trivandrum airport (16 kms / 50 minutes) to board your flight to Goa. Till date there are no direct flights from Trivandrum to Goa so you will have to change a flight at Chennai/ Bangalore/ Mumbai as per the flight schedule at the time of booking your holidays. Arrive Goa by late afternoon where you will be met by your driver and he will drive you to your hotel at Palolem beach (1 hrs). Overnight stay in Palolem Beach in South part of Goa in a beach side luxury air conditioned huts / or in a star category hotel as preferred by you.
Today you have a free day to relax your own at the Palolem beach. If interested, in the morning you can go for a Dolphin trip and in the evening you can go for kayaking tour in the sea. Today full day for relaxment and swimming. In the evening you can go for a dinner on the beach side local restaurants which cook fresh sea food as per your choice. Second night in the same hotel in Goa.
Today you have a second day free at Palolem beach in South Goa. Have your time free for swimming, to make Heena designs on your hands, and go for shopping in the small local shops. You can even try some traditional body / foot message therapies or you could spend your time relaxing on the beach / swimming in the sea. In the evening you can try some local restaurants for dinner where you can enjoy Goan fish curry or fresh sea food cooked as per your choice. Third night in the same hotel in Goa.
Today after breakfast around (08:30 AM) we will drive you to old Goa. We will visit the famous churches at old Goa including the Se Cathedral—the largest church in Goa, Archaeological museum, church of St. Francis, Basilica of Bom Jesus famous for the mausoleum of St. Francis housed in a glass sided coffin and Viceroy’s Arch. Later on we will drive you back to Palolem beach. Forth night in the same hotel in Goa.
Today morning you will be transferred to Goa airport to board your flight back to Mumbai / Chennai to return back to your country. On arrival at Chennai/ Mumbai if there is a lot of time between your arrival and departure flights than you will be taken to a local restaurant in the nearby hotel where you can fresh up yourself and have dinner, before we transfer back you to the international airport to board your flight back home through middle east or via Singapore towards south east Asia / Australia.
This is where the tour ends. However, if you wish to stay longer or want to take extension tour, we can make arrangements for you to be transferred to the airport at a later time.

This is the itinerary for a tour which we run regularly. It can be altered, and we like to discuss plans with clients and can make suggestions about special places to visit depending on our clients’ interests, and available time. The itinerary is planned in such a way that you get enough time to relax or to make walk in the local area and to experience the authentic life of the Indian people from much closer while travelling to Kerala & Goa.
This is where the tour ends. However, if you wish to stay longer in Delhi we can make arrangements for you to be transferred to the airport at a later time.
