Ragu, our driver, proved his worth within a very short time, calming down his passengers with his obvious skill and knowledge of both the Indian roads and his fellow drivers. We never witnessed a moment’s road rage – just a lot of horn blowing, patience and manoeuvrability, as is shown by 95% of India’s road users - just perhaps not the cows …..!
The four of us – John and myself and two very good friends – spent 19 days travelling through Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarkhand states in a very comfortable 11 seater mini bus, on an itinerary that fitted our requests completely, namely “We want to see grass roots India, the people’s India, how they really live” and oh boy - the stories and memories we now have to tell!
Being such a small group and having such an amazingly knowledgeable guide, we were able to experience so much more, living life with the villagers on our four day homestay, actually taking part in things like the Festival of Colors Holy Day celebrations, the worship of the River Ganges ceremony and even helping the behind the scenes volunteers at the Golden Temple roll out and stack the roti bread! We witnessed so many traditions and crafts, too numerous to mention, ate wonderful café food for very few rupees, learnt where and what to buy from the traders and spent comfortable nights in super hotels.
To summarise ….. India was obviously the star of the show on this holiday but I have to say, Vishal Dutta ran a very close second, with his precisional organisation, both on the run up to and during our experience. His personable disposition, wonderful sense of humour and, most importantly, his grasp and attainment of what we wanted from our holiday were second to none, and, needless to say, we’re already planning next year’s trip with Summit Safari!

This year it was Rajasthan - forts and palaces. But more than that, we saw a tiger at Ranthambore national Park and then had a wonderful day with a Naturalist local guide at Kaleodeo Bird Park - so good - a local guide chosen by Vishal.
So we're not getting any younger but Vishal has been looking after us for 7 years and has become our friend who knows what we need and like. All trips are individually designed and expertly guided by Vishal and the drivers he chooses.
Once again we were blown away by our experiences - from wonderful local guides in Jodphur and Jaipur, through to safaris looking for tigers, to the amazing Ganesha temple at Ramthambore Fort, to the pinnacle of the trip - Darjeeling and the amazing narrow-gauge railway, to a far-too short stay in Kolkata with visits to the sculptors area kumartuli, drive past the black hole etc. and some great hotels and "interesting" experiences like elephant rides, Indian train sleeper trips, high tea at the Windemere in Darjeeling and some nice silk shopping too!!
We recommend Vishal and Summit Safari India 100%. We are even now planning trip number 5. There is so much to see in India and Vishal can be relied on to do it right every time.
Sydney Australia ( February 2017)
Thanks to you, my friend and we had a very inspiring tour through the south of India– Kerala ! We were a group of 8 friends travelling together to India. India is a wonderful country, full of beauty and also very different from where we come from. Summit Safari India and Vishal was recommended to us by one of our friends who visited India a couple of years back with them.
One of our favorite Hotels and most beautiful beach has been in Varkala. Another great experience has been the overnight on the House boats tour including the canoe trip in the backwaters in Kerala.
The fact that we could reach you via phone throughout the whole journey gave all of us the feeling of being in good hands. You are very professional and gave us a wide range of information and truly a memorable well organized holiday trip.
Thank you for that!
We are all happy to have booked the tour with summit safari India and would recommend you to friends and family.

Our tour was arranged and guided by Vishal Dutta of Summit Safari India I cannot recommend Vishal highly enough. He thought of everything, from seeking out red wine to having a supply of hand wipes on the minibus our every need was catered for! We joined the locals for the Festival of Colors during our stay.
So if you are thinking of a trip to India please contact Vishal he is very knowledgeable about his country and will take you to places you would never find if travelling alone!!
Roger and I were accompanied by our good friends John and Carolyn Child they too will join me in my recommendations!!
Thanks again Vishal for an amazing trip, see you next year (we hope!).

Our second trip was just as special, but in an utterly different part of India. Starting in Chennai, then through Tamil Nadu, a houseboat in Kerala, the hill towns in the Nilgiri area, Mysore, Goa and back to Chennai.
Our recent trip was our third. This time it was to the forts and palaces of Rajasthan, the amazing tiger reserve of Ranthambore, the bird sanctuary at Bharatpur, and then on to the hill town of Darjeeling and the famous little toy train that wanders along the roadside through the villages.
Vishal works very hard as tour organiser and manager. Every trip was perfectly customised and organised for our "mature age" group of four. Vishal met us on arrival at the airport, traveled with us as our tour director and guide for the entire trip, and delivered us safely to the airport for our flight home. Every detail is covered, every special need is taken care of. No request is ever too much trouble.
Vishal is far more to us than an excellent tour manager and guide. He is now a very dear friend of us all. We all enthusiastically recommend Summit Safari and Vishal Dutta.
Sydney Australia. ( February 2017).
Very professional, hardworking , a good team work of drivers and delivering their best. Due to their professional services and personal care for the group no body face any acclimatising problem or any other problems travelling through the Indian Himalayas. We enjoyed the worlds best views, meeting local people, local culture, lunch with local families, daily fresh fruits were served to us by our drivers and guide Vishal, Immersing us in the folklore and dramatic natural beauty synonymous with the magical land-- – all was amazing. A very good selected hotels and tented accommodations were provided. It was a lifetime experience and we couldn't be happier to have done it, learned so much, seen so much, and escaped from work for a couple of weeks!“
Vishal Dutta and Summit Safari India is Highly recommended.
A Group of Friends from Isreal.
In couple of days you gave us so much !!! On our trip to India we visited Shimla and stayed in the Home stay organised by Vishal and Summit Safari with my wife and 3 children. Your information, your kindness, your love, your family was taking care of us very well.
The cooking lesson, the nice food, the henna on hands of my wife, the perfect shopping places etc etc. Your children were so kind and also good guides already! You made us feel what is Indian culture, what Hinduism is all about. That is so special to us. Thank you and your family and friends for everything you gave us.
It was a trip we’ll never forget and you made it so easy and enjoyful.
We will try to give some of the love and light you gave us to our family, so we can pass all the good things on to the world….!

Everything was so prefect and ended soon..! We didn’t know what to expect of this tour. It was our first time in India. Our wish was to see this beautiful land and its heritage, forts and temples…., But we found much more than that.
First and the most important, we found a very precious friend, who will stay in our hearts forever, and not only you, we met so many warm and open – hearted people around you during our tour the Colors of India ; we stay in home stay for a couple of nights and met your lovely mother in the village, she pampered us all the time, she was so kind and always with the smile on her face, your lovely family in Shimla( your dad, wife and two wonderful Kids). We were accepted and treated as members of your family and that meant a lot to us.
We were impressed with your knowledge, so much information; you shared with us, with such enthusiasm and passion. Just remember your evening stories about the culture, caste system, marriage system and much more, we listened them open mouthed.
Even if we were not used on that kind of traffic and the way of driving in India, after the first few kilometers we felt totally safe in the car with you and our driver Ajay, who is very good and reliable driver, he made us smile all the time. We will remember our tour The Colors Of India and especially you, our dear friend. You have a big heart and we feel you choose the right way to spread the love of your land among us.
The tour was organized perfectly, you thought of everything, the welcome flower Garlands, the birthday cake and a million tiny attentions during the tour.Everything was excellent, very professionally organized. We see a lot of interesting things and many historical places, but most of all we met wonderful people and get friends forever.
We wish you all the best in future. Our Good wishes also to your family. I hope we will meet again one day..!
Thank you Vishu , for unforgettable two weeks…….!

Again food was buffet based but an alacarte menu was offered and the food from this was excellent.
Hotel the Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai: There is very little you can say about this hotel. We stayed here for the history and tradition the hotel is famous for and were not disappointed. Even the very high cost of food and drink was worthwhile. We had an upgrade into a palace room which we were grateful for.
Without doubt we will recommend you and your company Summit Safari India to our friends and family and may well be in touch in a couple of years time to see the parts of India we have not visited yet.
Regards and thanks again.

End of our third trip with you. Every trip has been excellent although all different. Your preparation and research is impeccable. You never leave anything to chance but check places, routes and facilated me meeting my Indian relatives three times now and are a part of Family. We have been Impressed each time you planned, you know the state of the roads and exactly how long journeys would take and you are an excellent interpreter.
This visit we were three women attending a wedding in Delhi and than going on to visit Jodhpur, Pushkar, Jaipur and the Ganges at Rishikesh with Haridwar. You did an excellent job getting hotel bookings, internal flights, overnight train as we needed. Your suggestions for places to visit and activities have been spot on and your knowledge is encyclopedic, but even so, you hire the best local guides to ensure we have all the information we need and your stories are very interesting and informative.
You have our sense of humor so we are always laughing and joking. You have the best drivers so we always feel safe on the roads and they also know the best local Shops. You always choose the best restaurants so no worries about food and “ Delhi Belly”. What more can I say..?
I would not dream of coming to India without Vishal Dutta of Summit Safari !

Not only you were my guide, partner, body guard, but you are also my friend and language professor..!!Thank you, Phir Melanange ..!!
On a exchange programme to India and a tour planned by you —we all had a great time with you and your drivers. Everything was organized in a professional way. The places and the accommodation with food all was Great! The last day in the Home stay with your family was so impressive. We feel it better experience to know the local culture of India. To stay in your Home stay was very comfortable, really it was better than any hotel we stayed in the Himalaya. You are a really warm and humorful person. We like your little jokes so much..!
We got an amount of new experience with you and your good drivers. The trip to Himachal was very amazing and unforgettable experience. But not only the tour programme was nice.., You are a very friendly and professional. We had a lot of fun with you. You are flexible in your planning and always with a smile on your face.
The small things like every day fruits, dancing, fun, your jokes, organized planning, make you the best Guide of The World.Thank you so much and Summit Safari.
Wolfgang , Steffi and all the students from the group
The next three weeks, we gaped at the incredibly picturesque mountain passes. We ate every day all over the traditional cuisine. We did a trek across the Bhaba pass and shared our joy with the guide, the mule man Tchumpa and cook Sonam (Mayor of Mud). Each of those who knew their craft.
We go up very high in the mountains and no one got sick. We talked to everyone we encountered. Our guide Raju interpreted in where it was needed. Everyone was friendly and helpful. All temples, monasteries, culture got our attention. We have seen incredible things and experienced. Luckily we did pictures or no one would believe it. Food and camping arrangements were very good during the trek in the Himalayas.
The trip was very exciting and we stay in comfortable home stay also for a couple of nights. During the jeep safari part our driver Vikram was very confident and good.
At Bilaspur were caught back by Vishal and his friendly family. Our hands were still painted with henna. So we could enjoy at home in Belgium of an Indian presence.
Thank you Vishal for a Perfect organization. We wish you all the best because you gave us so much friendship and that we never forget. Send you a very friendly and grateful greetings…!

This time we were three women, my daughter Kelley came for the first time and not once were we worried or scared. You looked after us so well and made sure, we were always safe. Once again you have triumphed and made my stay in India fantastic from the moment you met us at the airport to when you dropped us off after 15 days. It has been magical, I thought that my last tour two years ago was fabulous and how could you top that , but you did it..!
We went Delhi, Jodhpur, Pushkar, Jaipur and the Jewel in the crown was Rishikesh with the Ganges, in the Himalayas. We had local guides in places of interest, we had camel ride, elephant ride, two plane rides, a boat ride, bicycle rickshaw and a tukl- tuk an overnight train, participating in the Worship ceremony of river Ganges which was an experience!
Unfortunately at one stage I wasn’t well and stayed in the hotel and you made sure I was looked after so it didn’t spoiled my holidays. Your knowledge, stories and fun is such a bonus you were on our navelongth with your sense of human we laughed for two weeks.
My daughter Kelley agrees with everything I’ve said she should have to come when she was at school but not enough, so far her at 42 its been a dream come true.
We had an amazing time thank you..!

This is a truly delightful tour and we’re grateful for everything you organised. You’re the best guide ever- for understanding what we like to see & explore and even taking time to explain about historical events and the small details of the place..! I’m looking forward to many tours you conduct in future. May god bless you and your family.
You were so flexible and keen to meet our needs. Naturally we Enjoyed Amritsar -- The Golden Temple, Dharamshala, Manali, Shoja, Sarahan, Shimla, Chail, Rishikesh and Delhi. The accommodation was very clean and was chosen carefully. The food was outstanding especially throughout the hill parts. We are thinking again to come back and to do a tour , definitely Summit Safari India, you as a guide. I would like to thank our driver Pawan who always drive at a very comfortable pace on Indian roads and make our trip a very safe trip.

We were shown some truly amazing places from the Taj Mahal to the Himalayas but more than that we saw India! The people, their way of life, the religions and culture -all of them where narrated beautifully and with a level of knowledge that just made everything come to life in a way that took this from being a trip to becoming an experience and one that will stay with all of us.
Vishal and his team of excellent drivers where with us throughout the trip but it was never intrusive. They were considerate of our needs at all stages of the journey, including making last minute changes to the itinerary without a single complaint!. Details of the Recommendation: "Dear Vishal, I rarely find myself wanting to sit down and writing a letter of recommendation for a guide, but we had such an exceptional good experience with our tour guide in India.
We originally planned to book a 23 day tour In North India with a group through a travel agent in The Netherlands. We wanted to visit Delhi and guided tour to North India with at the end a 7 day trekking in Ladakh Indian Himalaya.
We then came across some very positive reviews about Mr Vishal Datta who runs a small tour office Summit Safari , in North India. We got triggered and got in contact with him. From the first moment we got a very good feeling and his final offer was excellent. Not only in price but also how the total tour was planned and set up. One of the advantages was that instead of travelling with a group we now had a complete private tour with high quality car, separate chauffeur and a private guide.
Vishal is around 35 years old and has been a tour guide for a long time. He started his own company a few years ago. He actually studied history and culture but his heart is with people so he seems to have found the perfect combination. He has a unique skill to get in contact with all sort of people and make them feel comfortable. Apart from his touring skills it is about details. At every moment he has everything organized. He make you feel very comfortable as you are travelling with a friend. You might feel at the beginning this is just professional behavior but soon you find out this is just who he is.
After our tour we really wanted to do something back. One of the things is writing this review. He is not looking to build a large company but just to do things right. It’s easy to write another six pages about all the things he has done for us to make our holiday truly unforgettable. However we do hope he has time for us the next time we visit India. No doubt that we will book with him again.
